Diary of a Dancer is a must see ! It is a dance/drama that delves into the life of a talented young boy who dreams of getting out and beyond his miserable existence. His prayers are answered and he goes on to achieving phenomenal success but nothing prepares him for the” other” side of a dancers life.
Dancing and acting is done by a bevy of brilliant female dancers, a troupe of highly energetic male dancers and a set of junior dancers that will stun audiences with their incredible passion and talent.
Dance genres include hip hop, kwaito, contemporary, ballet funk, jazz, cabaret and krump.
Audiences can expect to be blown away by the dynamic set design, flamboyant costuming, exciting music compilations and a cast of 60 outstanding dance warriors. Diary of a Dancer is an original dance/drama that has been written, produced and directed by nationally renowned choreographer, Glenda Jones. The story explores the myth or truth around what makes a dancer brilliant and famous. It also examines what it takes to be a great dancer. Is it the hours and hours of training, sweating on the dance floor, sacrificing, painful feet and injury after injury or does it favor children who are able to train at highly established dance studios. It also begs the question, what happens to dancers when they can no longer dance.
DIARY OF A DANCER, (Afrika Ablaze & Glenda Jones Productions) will open on Friday, December 16 between 2:00pm - 10:00pm at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Afrika Ablaze performed on the Expresso show midway through June, much to the delight of their viewers.
What the Expresso team has to say about Afrika Ablaze; "Their youthful energy and inspired dance choreography proved very popular with our presenters and our audience. In light of their achievements and the positive energy that they bring, we've decided to have them in studio once again to perform a special tribute dance for the great Nelson Mandela."
