Choose a dancing environment that encourages healthy lifestyles, positive values and strong morals
Don’t be fanatical about winning titles and trophies, rather concentrate on being the best you can be and the titles will follow.
Open yourself to learning a multitude of dance skills and styles. This is one of the best gifts you can give yourself as a dancer.
Be aware of just performing sensational hype moves to gain fame. You may risk long term injury.
Don’t give up academic studies completely. Secure your future by having something to fall back onto should that “rainy day “come along.
Never forget the “higher purpose” of dance. It should transform your life by opening up new possibilities for developing a beautiful, exciting and healthy relationship with your body, mind and soul.
It is often said, that an organization’s moral standing is measured by what they have done for children. Afrika Ablaze has had its heart set in transforming children’s lives through dance. Afrika Ablaze has for the past 12 years achieved its long term goals.
How is the company funded and how can the community support you guys?
The company is funded by Glenda Jones and from a small fee income from dancers. Fees are kept deliberately low so that children who are disadvantaged can dance. A significant number of children who cannot afford to pay fees are being sponsored by Glenda.
You can support Afrika Ablaze by:
enrolling dancers with us,
coming to see our shows,
sponsoring dance bursaries for children who are disadvantaged,
providing assistance with makeup, costumes, transport,
marketing and sponsorships for our productions.
